Privacy Policy

UpWorld ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the UpWorld app. UpWorld was previously called Roomr, and this site still lives at roomr.io.

Information we collect

• Account information: username, email address, phone number, date of birth, and profile photo.
• Location: your position is used to place you on the map, to record your walks, and to show nearby places and properties. Sharing your location with friends is optional, is off until you turn it on, and can be switched off again at any time in Settings — including ghost mode, which hides you while you keep using the app.
• Steps and movement: step count and walking distance, read from Apple Health if you connect it, and otherwise from your device's motion sensors. We only read this data — we never write anything to Apple Health, and we never use it for advertising.
• Content you create: messages, photos, walk captions, and posts you share.
• Usage data: room participation, friend connections, and activity timestamps.
• Device data: device type, operating system, and push notification tokens.

How we use your information

• To operate and improve the app.
• To connect you with your friends in real-time spaces.
• To show your position, walks, and properties on the map to the people you have chosen to share with.
• To send push notifications about room activity.
• To enforce our Terms of Service and safety policies.

Who can see your position

Only the friends you have accepted, and only while location sharing is on. You choose how precise it is, and ghost mode is always one tap away. We never sell or share your location with advertisers.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following third-party services to operate UpWorld:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• LiveKit — real-time video and audio.
• Firebase / APNs — push notifications.
• OpenFreeMap — map tiles.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Send us a privacy request and we'll respond within 30 days.

Minimum age

UpWorld requires users to be at least 13 years old.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of UpWorld after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
